Using slabs and coils handbuild and for those experienced in throwing learn how to make an enclosed forms. Six weeks of a creative learning experience. SOFT PASTEL is pure pigment in stick form. You will learn how to use this stick tool to create your Art. You will also learn how to transform this pastel to a liquidpaint, as a background wash. Pastel pencils will also be used.
Bring to class: Sketchbook, any soft pastels you have, a printed photo reference, apron, paint cloth.
ACA will furnish: Papers, some pastels, easels and backboards.

Learn basic forming techniques in both handbuilding and throwing geared for beginners. We will cover soft and leather hard slabs using the slab roller, coil forms using the extruder, an introduction to the potters wheel and glazes and glazing.

Torch Enamel on Copper Jewelry I

Materials: $25 included
Ages: 16 and up
This is a make-and-take class. Use a stationary torch to create enameled copper shapes for earrings and other jewelry. Basic torch safety will be discussed. Several techniques will be explored, including cutouts, sgraffito, and color blending. All materials are included.
IMPORTANT: Students taking glass courses using a torch must wear natural fiber clothing (i.e., cotton shirt and denim jeans), closed-toe shoes, and hair tied back and out of the way. Loose clothing that will be in the way of the torch is strongly discouraged. Please wear clothing that is not essential to your wardrobe. AN N95 RESPIRATION MASK IS REQUIRED for your safety.
