Introduction to Encaustic Art

Thursday August 7   6-9pm.

Encaustic art is an ancient art form using beeswax as the medium. Using straight beeswax or pigmented beeswax you will learn about the process of working with melted wax to build layers. You can create straight up paintings or use the beeswax as a collage medium.  You will want to bring some items such as Canvas panels (5x7 or 8x10") or other surfaces to work on, interesting papers, fabric, photos, small lightweight objects to embed into the wax, dried flowers or other natural objects, doodads and all kinds of "junque".
