Lively Lizard

Lively Lizard with Jim and Amy Anderson Students will make their very own colorful lizard out of a chunk of clay. There are thousands of lizard species so students are encouraged to have ideas of how they want their lizard to look. They will paint them with colored slips and afterward they will be slow dried and glaze fired, ready to be picked up in two to three weeks.

Tuesdays 2/10-2/24 3 weeks 6:00-8:00 pm

During the first 2 weeks we will create items to use around your bathroom using handbuilding techniques. Among these projects will be a soap dispenser, a soap dish, a toothbrush holder, and a multi-unit brush/curling rod holder. During the final class we will glaze our creations, which will be available in 1-2 weeks for pickup.

Build on your flameworking experience as you work with pre-made stringers to create elegant glass chain links. This workshop encourages you to slow down and let the glass gently bend into shape, eventually linking pieces into a beautiful handmade glass chain. A bit of torch experience recommended.

Step into the world of glass art with this beginner-friendly beadmaking workshop! Learn how to wind molten glass onto a mandrel, shape it, and add simple color and design elements. A perfect hands-on introduction before joining the 6-week beadmaking course.

Beginning Glass Bead Making (three sessions)

Mondays March 2,  9  and 16th. 6-9 pm

Ages: 16 and up

This is a three session class. Make your own glass beads. Basic bead making using a surface mix torch and soda-lime glass rods will be the focus of the class including larger plain beads and creating various bead shapes. Basic design techniques for decorating beads including frit, dots and stringer will be explored. Torch and studio safety will be reviewed. The class will be taught as an open studio that explores topics and techniques based upon the students’ interests with the guidance of the instructor as needed.IMPORTANT: Students taking glass courses must wear natural fiber clothing (i.e., cotton shirt and denim jeans), closed toe shoes and hair tied back and out of the way. Loose clothing that will be in the way of the torch is strongly discouraged.
