The eARTh Series, Eco Printing on Silk with Julia Tomaro

Saturday, August 22nd * 10:00am - 12:00pm

Participants will learn how to use plant material to transfer images onto a silk scarf. Jacquard silk dyes will be used. As a plus, experimentation using turmeric as a photo responsive dye will be explored on paper and silk. Participants will be able to come back to class two to four hours after scarves are steamed or prints have sunbathed to pick up their work. Work will be available in the Gallery office for those who cannot come back that day. Please bring gloves to protect from dyes. Wear appropriate clothing for dye. One might want to wear an apron.

First Thursday Open Print Studio with Kadi Franson

Do you have a printmaking idea you’ve been wanting to try, or an existing project you're waiting to finish? Come to the studio to enjoy relaxed, open creative time alongside other local printmakers.

In this class you'll learn to cut, measure and weave raw to make a napkin basket.

TINY LINO PRINT SERIES - SEED PACKETS with Kadi Franson

Sunday, September 27th * 1:00pm - 4:00pm * Ages: 15+

Many plants are going to seed—but where to put them all? In hand-printed packets, of course! In this workshop, we will make small block prints to stamp onto seed packets; a handmade touch for labeling seeds for next year’s planting cycle, giving as gifts, or contributing to a free little seed library. This will be a fun, enjoyable process that will provide a low-stakes introduction to linocut printmaking.

Everyone will leave with their own set of stamped packets and a custom block print to continue using at home. Feel free to bring a few photo references or drawings of the plant you will be depicting to use in your designs.

The workshop fee covers all material costs. Beginners welcome!

The Way of Intuitive Art: Finding Meaning Through Making

 This hands-on, three-hour workshop invites participants to explore art-making through intuition rather than instruction. Guided by mixed-media artist Alisa E. Clark, you’ll experiment with materials, marks, and layers while learning to trust process, play, and personal response. No prior art experience is required—this workshop is about letting go of expectations, listening closely, and discovering what emerges when you create from the inside out. Participants may or may not leave with a finished piece—and that’s completely okay. This workshop emphasizes experience over outcome, offering starting points, new ways of working, and moments of discovery. The true takeaway is a deeper connection to your creative voice, along with insights and approaches you can continue exploring long after the workshop ends.

*Students should bring a journal or sketchbook, basic paintbrushes, and texture/mark-making materials (string,sandpaper shapes, leaves, fabric scrapes and etc).

In this class you will learn how to weave a gathering basket from raw reed and seagrass.

Ages 13 and up.

October 19th and 21st 

6 pm til 9 pm 

 Join us for a fun evening learning the art of block printing with local artist, Rachel Lambes. Rachel will lead us through the entire printmaking process including preparing, carving, and printing your own custom design. We will be carving linoleum blocks to print personalized tea towels, zipper pouches, or reusable shopping totes. All required materials are included in the class tuition. Additional materials will be available to purchase during the workshop if you want to create multiple projects, but are completely optional. Feel free to bring your own materials (shirts, towels, totes, etc.) to print on if you wish. No experience is necessary to participate in this workshop.

Rachel Lambes, the artist behind Thistlefield LLC, is a native of Northwest Ohio, currently residing near Wauseon with her family. She holds a Master’s of Education and works as a professional artist and paralegal. Rachel serves on the gallery committee for the Adrian Center for the Arts.

Alternative Processes in Reduction Printmaking

Students will use power tools, hand tools, nails, screwdrivers, and any tool they choose to make marks on the surface of the plywood printing plate. We will start out by printing a solid color, then gradually reduce the surface of our plate with our mark-making techniques and print contrasting colors with each reduction layer. Students will come away with a small edition of prints from this class.Abstract imagery works best for this process, especially for students' first time experimenting with it. Students just need to bring a sense of adventure.
