Handbuilding Intensive: The Sculptural
In this six week course you will learn how to create sculptural ceramics utilizing handbuilding construction methods such as coil, slab and pinch. We will discuss how to develop concepts and how to translate that into a three dimensional piece of art.
One box of clay is included in class cost.
Open to all learning levels
You will need to have a basic set of clay tools which can be bought from the ACA for $12

Get ready for spring family get togethers with a one of a kind Deviled Eggs Tray built by you. Using slabs of clay and fun textures you will create a tray that will hold 12 deviled eggs.
No previous experience with clay is necessary.

April Showers Bring Wall Flowers
Create a large one-of-a kind decorative wall mounted flower using variety of forming techniques including handbuilt slab and the potter’s wheel. Learn about slip decoration to make your flower unique. This is a great introduction to all that is possible with the expressive medium of clay.

During the first 2 weeks we will create items to use around your kitchen using handbuilding techniques. Among these projects will be options for a garlic grater plate with herb stripper, an oil cruet, a spoon rest, a butter dish and an utensil crock. During the final class we will glaze our creations, which will be available 1-2 weeks after class for pickup
Making Faces with Amy Philp SOLD OUT

This class will cover the shape of the face, correct placement and modeling of the features: eyes, mouth, nose and ears. Faces will be slow dried, fired and ready for students to pick up in 2-3 weeks.

You and your mini bestie will work together to create tiny balls of clay. We will then create 2 enclosed forms for you to put all your clay pieces into. Once fired all the tiny clay balls inside our form will create a rattle pot similar to maracas. We will paint our pieces will colored slips for decoration. Works will be available for pickup 2 weeks after class, once they have been fired in the kiln.
You only need to register the adult for this class. Please note this class is for one youth per one adult.
Throw it AND Glaze it (2 sessions)

Throw it AND Glaze it
In two, two hour sessions learn both the basics of wheel throwing by forming at least one bowl and then glazing it. The second class you will learn about the mysteries of glaze and firing, where art, chemistry and physics intersect. You will chose the glazes of your choice for your fully functional, food, dishwasher and microwave safe bowls. Through out experienced instructors will provide the support and advice you need to be successful. Clay, tools, and glaze firing all provided. will ready for pickup at a later date to show off your new artistic skills to all.

Are you interested in expanding your glazing skills? In this one and done class, we use a combination of Commercial brush on glazes to explore the frozen pond technique of glazing. You will need to bring a piece of bisqueware to glaze. If you do not have one, a small dish will be provided for you. Pieces will.be fired in the kiln and available for pickup 1-2 weeks after class.
