Beginning/Intermediate Flameworking (4 weeks) with Robin Schultes

4 Sundays: October 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th *  9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Dive into the world of molten glass and discover the art of beadmaking! In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to build beads on the mandrel, shape them with confidence, and add simple, colorful designs. In a welcoming and safe studio environment, you’ll get comfortable working with the flame while exploring your creativity. The perfect place to begin your flameworking journey as well as a continuation for our intermediate students.                        

This is a make-and-take class. Use a stationary torch to create enameled copper shapes for earrings and other jewelry. Basic torch safety will be discussed. Several techniques will be explored, including cutouts, sgraffito, and color blending. All materials are included. IMPORTANT: Students taking glass courses using a torch must wear natural fiber clothing (i.e., cotton shirt and denim jeans), closed-toe shoes, and hair tied back and out of the way. Loose clothing that will be in the way of the torch is strongly discouraged. Please wear clothing that is not essential to your wardrobe. AN N95 RESPIRATION MASK IS REQUIRED

Bracelet Workshop (2 weeks) with Annemarie Kallenbach

Tuesdays: October 6th and 13th * 6:30pm - 9:00pm

Using a bracelet as your canvas, this beginner class will introduce metalsmith concepts and create a one of a kind wearable object of Artin copper (silver will be available for additional cost).  Use of texture, color and bending will be learned.  Free open studio time per appointment.

Holiday Candies (Make-and-Take) with Robin Schultes

Saturday, October 10th * 9 am to 12 pm 

In this class we will shape hot glass into small colorful candies using soft glass and special tools.  Some experience is helpful, but not necessary.

Intro to Beadmaking Workshop with Robin Schultes

Saturday, October 10th * 12:30pm - 3:30pm

Step into the world of glass art with this beginner-friendly workshop! Students will learn how to wind molten glass onto a mandrel, shape it into a bead, and apply simple color and decorative elements. This hands-on experience is a wonderful way to try flameworking for the first time and is the perfect introduction before committing to a full session.

Spooky Holiday Bouquet (Make-and-Take) with Robin Schultes

Sunday, October 11th * 12:30pm - 3:30pm

Bouquet of eye balls, bat wings, licorice whips and pumpkins! In this fun and fast-paced workshop, students will work with molten glass on the end of a wire to create delicate sculptural forms inspired by nature. From flowers to whimsical organic shapes, each piece will come together into a beautiful take-home bouquet. A playful and creative class that’s perfect for all experience levels—and a wonderful way to experience the expressive side of glass.

STAINED GLASS BOARDS FOR CHECKERS OR CHESS

Linda Jacobs, Instructor You can have the most gorgeous, original game board you can imagine! A large 18x18 size, use it for checkers or chess or as a table decoration. Learn how to use the glass tools, choose the glass, and design a one-of-a- kind art piece. Glue, grout, and paint and you’re ready to play.

Try your hand at making blown-glass ornaments. Using an oxygen-propane torch, students will learn basic techniques for using pre-blown glaskolben to make blown-glass ornaments. Frit will be used to add color to the clear glaskolben. Learning how to control heat, gravity and blowing techniques will determine your success. Creating these colorful ornaments will provide students a basis for working glass further in the torch. Each student will be provided 6 glaskolben. When you pick up your ornaments, be sure to bring packing material and a small container to transport your ornaments to the safety of your home. Basic torch safety will be discussed.
