Glass Gathering Paperweights

Participants will gather glass, add color and shape glass into a paperweight.
This class is for ages 18 and older.
Please note that participants need to wear closed toed shoes, clothes made of natural fibers and long hair needs to be pulled back.

Using a bracelet as your canvas, this beginner class will introduce metalsmith concepts and create a one of a kind wearable object of art.

Making Faces with Amy Philp

This class will cover the shape of the face and correct placement and modeling of the features: eyes, mouth, nose and ears. Faces will be slow dried, fired and ready for students to pick up in 2-3 weeks. After firing, the faces can be glazed or painted.

The Full Figure with Amy Philp (3 sessions)

The Full Figure
This class will explore sculpting the full figure, including correct proportions, how to build a structure that stands on its own and hollowing out the piece for firing. Students will work with photographs of 4 views of a clothed model. Sculptures will be slow dried, fired in a kiln and ready for pickup in 3 to 4 weeks for a finish of paint, glaze or other medium of the student’s choice. Some clay experience is helpful.

All about Wool: Spinning, Felting and Natural Dyeing
Learn what an amazing fiber wool is! Using vintage spinning wheels learn how to prepare wool, make thread, ply and then yarn suitable for knitting and crocheting or other fiber arts. Washed and carded prepared wool will be provided. Short introductions about natural dyeing and felting will be interspersed.
